The failure of Intel’s IoT stuff was purely related to the documentation. The documentation simply wasn’t there. You couldn’t find a datasheet with a list of registers anywhere. There were zero templates/examples. I know people who had a direct line to Intel engineers that tried to get a simple SPI thing going. Didn’t happen, even with the best help you could have.
So, instead of solving the problem by 1) releasing documentation and 2) putting a few Edison and Galileo boards, sparkfun’s entire sensor inventory and a few interns in a room and telling them to build shit, they just pulled the plug.
